This was my third book I’ve read, and the last but not least of the Isabel Allende’ triology. In this third book the adventures between Alexander Cold y Nadia Santos finnaly goes to end. This final part take place in Africa and talks about the slavery in that forbidden part of the world.
The book start when National Geographic magazine ask to Kate Cold to write an article of safaris in Africa. She decided to take her grandson Alexander and his friend Nadia to the innocent safari there. In the middle of the safari something went wrong and they had to look for help in the middle of nothing. Just this the adventure started. They lost in Africa; they have to take care of dangerous animals, so when they are escaping from a lion is when the met a missionary Fernando Gonzalez who was going to a little and hidden village looking for other lost missionary.
The group of the National Geographic thought in their possibilities to survive alone and decided to go with Fernando. Kate ask the pilot of the plane Angie to take them to the village in it is suppose to be the lost missionary. When they got there they realized they were under the command of Kosongo, king of the village and a person who suppose to have supernatural powers. , who also was under the command of Mbembelé, king of the country in which there are traffic of marble, people and diamond that is why no one wants to interrupt those business. Kosongo used to pygmies as servant to look food, marble or gold. One night Nadia used her power of invisibility to talk to the littles pygmies and they told everything that have been happened since Kosongo got there. Nadia told the group everything the pygmies said and they make a plan to recover the power and gave back to Nana-Asante, the old queen of this lands. One night Nadia got in the shack of Kosongo to take the holy amulet. With this amulet and help by the pygmies, the group faces up Kosongo and his soldiers. Alexander killed him and Nana-Asante got back to the land to recover the live that have been taken for more than fifteen years.
When the group got back to New York city, Alexander gave to Kate the notes he took in every trip during three years to make a book of that. She wrote all notes to preserve the Memories of the Eagle and the Jaguar.
